‘The World Ends With You’

Square Enix is releasing ‘The World Ends With You’ on Nintendo DS on 18 April.
Formerly known as ‘Subarashiki Kono Sekai’ in Japan, the renamed game takes its styling from modern Japanese culture, including clothes, music and people. The screenshots we’ve had a gander at remind us of ‘Jet Set Radio’, so think stylised Tokyo streets with hip kids loafing about and you’re pretty close.
The lead character Neku wakes up to find a phone message telling him he has only 7 days before he will cease to exist. His only hope of survival is the coolest clothes, friends and fighting skills – of course!
A bit of a departure for RPG experts Squre Enix, creators of ‘Kingdom Hearts’, the team promises innovative combat that uses the dual screen and microphone – we’re intrigued. As if that didn’t make us want it enough, the game also boasts an “achingly cool” cast of characters and psychic powers.
