Ubisoft thinking of turning Uplay into Steam & Origin rival

Recommended Videos

Ubisoft has suggested that it is thinking about adding third-party titles to its Uplay digital distribution service. At present, Uplay offers only games published by Ubisoft, but that could be about to change.

“We remain open to opportunities,” said Ubisoft’s Stephanie Perotti. “Right now, we’re starting the service with our own games, but as we go forward, we plan to potentially add other titles.”

Of course, adding “other titles” – i.e. third-party titles – would turn Uplay into something of a competitor to the likes of Steam and Origin. From my perspective, this can only be a good thing – as general competition increases, so should quality of service… including the base price of digital content.

What do you think? Have you ever even used Uplay?
