Ubisoft’s DRM Cracked

Ubisoft’s DRM, which requires an always-on Internet connection, has now allegedly been cracked. When Ubisoft introduced its DRM system it did not go down well with gamers and caused problems for legitimate purchasers when Assassin’s Creed 2 was released earlier this month on the PC.In the past 24 hours a pirate group called SkidRow has announced it’s now cracked UbiSoft’s DRM stating:”Thank you Ubisoft, this was quiete a challenge for us, but nothing stops the leading force from doing what we do. Next time focus on the game and not on the DRM. It was probably horrible for all legit users. We just make their lifes easier.”We understand that the group involved were waiting for the release of Splinter Cell Conviction before revealing their success instead of attempting to release a crack during the launch of Assassin’s Creed 2.Ubisoft’s DRM is one of the more irritating systems released by a publisher due to the need for an always-on Internet connection. Sadly for Ubisoft, its DRM appears to have only kept the pirates at bay for just over a month.
