Wait, rewind: Life is Strange 2: Collector’s Edition gets physical PC release

Life Is Strange 2 Collector's Edition 1

Physical releases of video games on the PC have become an almost archaic practice. This is especially apparent when you consider all of the available digital storefronts competing for your hard-earned dollars. In some cases, it makes things like a collector’s edition of a title feel more isolated to consoles. Today, however, Square Enix announced that the Life is Strange 2: Collector’s Edition will come with a digital Steam code and the rest of its goodies.

What’s in the box?

Some might take the physical release of a collector’s edition with a digital code as an insult. At least in the case for Life is Strange 2, everything that you would be getting (minus the game) will be included in the boxed set. The only caveat to this sale is that you’ll get a digital Steam code for the five episodes, with the fifth releasing prior to the launch of the collector’s edition.

Other added bonuses in the box set include an additional code for The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, also set in the Life is Strange universe. The rest are physical, tangible trinkets, such as Arcadia Bay patches, a 32-page art book featuring concept art, and the game’s official musical score by Jonathan Morali. And what’s a limited edition release without a collectible figure? In this case, you’ll get the game’s two main protagonists, Sean and Daniel. You can prop all of these up in the display box included in the set.

The Life is Strange 2: Collector’s Edition will release on February 4, 2020, with a US$69.99 pricepoint. At this time, it looks like the only place where you can purchase the set is via the Square Enix digital store. There’s a separate link available if you were wanting to purchase the set on either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One to get the physical disc, you pleb.
