WAR: Free Transfers Follow Merger Talks

Mythic has announced another batch of free transfers for characters in its MMO Warhammer Online, following talks of more server mergers.

It emerged yesterday in a Q&A from developers that Mythic had been discussing the possibility of merging more WAR game servers. Shortly afterwards, a new round of free transfers were announced, urging players to leave a selection of North American servers in favour of other existing ones. This gives an indication of which servers may be shut down following the transfers.

Players on the Ironfist, Vortex, Monolith, Magnus and Skull Throne servers are being asked to move their characters to Gorfang, Volkmar or Badlands respectively, starting from today. To soften the blow, players on all servers will temporarily receive an extra 20% experience and renown. If these five named servers are to be shut down, the total number in North America will be down to nine. Before the closures earlier this year, there were over fifty.

As yet, GoA has made no comment on whether any EU servers will be merged.
