Warzone leak suggests Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep will be removed with the launch of Warzone 2

Could we be saying farewell to some fan-favorite maps?

Call of Duty: Warzone has always had large, traditional battle royale maps located in Verdansk and then Caldera. Alongside them has been smaller Resurgence maps known an Rebirth Island and later on, Fortune’s Keep. The smaller maps allow for close-quarter combat and fast paced matches. They also allow you to respawn and get straight back in the action up until Resurgence is disabled in the final moments of a match.

With the launch of Warzone 2, the future is uncertain for Resurgence fans. According to the prominent Call of Duty leaker, TheGhostOfHope, following the release of Warzone 2, Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep will be removed from the current iteration of Warzone. This means that Caldera will be the only map remaining in the current Warzone.

Warzone 2’s focus is on the huge Al Mazrah map

When Warzone 2 releases, it is unknown if there will be any smaller maps available to play. Infinity Ward has only revealed details about their new Al Mazrah map, which has 18 points of interest, and the return of some fan favorite areas like Modern Warfare 2‘s Terminal map at the Airport.

Without confirmation from Activision, it’s unknown if the leak surrounding the removal of Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep rings true. Previously, TheGhostOfHope also claimed that a Resurgence style map will roll out in Warzone 2 midway through 2023. So, if you are a Resurgence fan, you may get the same experience again in Warzone 2, but you could be waiting a while.

Warzone 2 will make its official debut on November 16.
