Ubisoft is gearing up for a big month. With Assassin’s Creed Valhalla set to release next week, this could just be the biggest month for the mega-publisher yet. However, there is a pressing need to fix one of its current releases. Watch Dogs: Legion was unleashed just last week, allowing players to take to the streets of futuristic London to fight against the powers that be. Players are reporting plenty of issues about the game though, especially related to its save system. It seems that when you do not exit the game properly, your save data will be erased. With just one save slot to work with and no way to manually save, you are looking at a game of Russian roulette every time you play. Ubisoft has acknowledged the problem, and a fix for the Watch Dogs: Legion save corruption is in the works.
Unfortunately, that will take some time. A fix may not be out until early next week, so fans will have to sit tight for a bit. Ubisoft set a deadline of November 9 for a fix to address the issue. More details have also been shared regarding the Watch Dogs: Legion save corruption in a forum post. It appears that the game can take quite a bit of time when saving on exit. This has led many players to assume that the game becomes stuck when it happens. Unsurprisingly, some players started using Alt+F4 to force the game to close. As a result, the Watch Dogs: Legion save corruption bug rears its ugly head.
According to several accounts, the saving process can range from a minimum of five long minutes to even more ridiculous lengths. One user shared that they tried to exit to the main menu, went out for a walk with their dog, and came back to a game still stuck. At this point in time, waiting it out seems to be the only safe option to ward off the Watch Dogs: Legion save corruption.
A workaround has also been shared by another Reddit user. Players will need to disable cloud service and start Ubisoft Connect in offline mode. You will then need to set the Watch Dogs: Legion app affinity to a single core. You can do this when the game is running. Go to the Windows taskbar, go to Details, right-click on the game’s process, and set the affinity to a single core. Now you can return to the game and quit out to the main menu. It should only take a short while then.
