The weather in FUEL is a “key player” in the post-apocalyptic game according to producer Phil Wright.

Wright, speaking to VG247, said that the weather is more than just cosmetic in FUEL. In most games, he reckons, the weather is only for atmosphere, but “in FUEL we wanted to make a feature of it as well.”

“Weather is a key player in the fictional backdrop of the game world, reinforcing the impression that there has been a shift in nature which has resulted in sudden and extreme changes in weather conditions.” Wright added that the team “also use it to great effect in races, with driving rain, dust storms, snow and even tornados adding an extra dimension of challenge.” I’ll say!

FUEL is an open-world racer with the biggest free game space of any console title. You can see some weather examples below, and more videos with vehicle showcasing, GPS gameplay, multiplayer, general gameplay and the CGI trailer. The game has been slightly delayed, but will be released in about a week.
