Get your PCs in gear because we’re racing around the world and going back in time this week. These are some of the top games releasing in October 1 to 7, 2018. They include heading back to Ancient Greece with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and tearing up the racetracks in hyper-realistic cars with Forza Horizon 4.
For those looking to plan further ahead, you can check out our updated PC game release date list for the rest of the year all the way to mid-2019.
Forza Horizon 4
- Release Date: October 2, 2018
- Developer: Playground Games
- Publisher: Microsoft Studios
The Forza Horizon series has been gearing up to provide the ultimate hybrid between driving simulations and open-world exploration. Forza Horizon 4 is no different, introducing seasons and dynamic weather changes to the game. The game will offer a shared-world experience like no other. Because the game is set in Britain, fans will also get to see cars made famous by the James Bond movies, sans theme music and the actual 007. Well, at least you can pretend to be him.
Die-hard fans who bought the Ultimate Edition of the game already had a chance to play it four days ago on September 28. Those who are still on the fence should be able to check out the demo which even has bug fixes, quite a rarity indeed. Playground Games and Microsoft are truly serious in providing old, new, and potential Forza Horizon franchise fans a worthwhile experience.
Mega Man 11
- Release Date: October 2, 2018
- Developer: Capcom
- Publisher: Capcom
It’s been eight years since we’ve had a main entry to the original Mega Man series and it looks like Capcom has been hard at work to deliver a definitive experience when playing as the blue bomber. Following the tried-and-tested formula of the franchise, Mega Man 11 will see our hero going through linear stages followed by boss fights against Dr. Wily’s henchmen.
New mechanics that will be introduced to the series are the Speed Gear and Power Gear. The former can slow down time which allows you to dodge various attacks. Meanwhile, the latter will boost your offensive capabilities. If ever you’re looking to catch up on some classic gameplay, you can also check out the Mega Man Legacy Collection bundle.
Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics
- Release Date: October 4, 2018
- Developer: Auroch Digital
- Publisher: Ripstone
Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics also invades PCs with horrific creatures this week. The game started as a Kickstarter project several years ago, the endeavor has now become a reality. Based on the pen-and-paper tabletop RPG, you’ll now get a chance to experience it in video game form.
Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics will task you with controlling your Allied squad to face off against Nazis. Not only that, you’ll end up encountering the spawn of Cthulhu. Taking out multiple enemies grants you more momentum during a fight. However, too much horror and influence of the great dark will eventually cost your soldiers their sanity.
- Release Date: October 5, 2018
- Developer: Ubisoft
- Publisher: Ubisoft
As the first week of October winds down, we’ll see Ubisoft’s flagship action/adventure franchise enter the fray. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will take players to Ancient Greece. The game’s backdrop is set during the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta.
Players can choose between Alexios and Kassandra. Likewise, either character can have romantic relationships with NPCs along with more roleplaying options. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will have one of the biggest world maps in the entire franchise. Also, with no new offerings for base games in 2019, that leaves more room for Ubisoft to continue development and add-ons for the game.
In fact, some of those add-ons are a huge surprise if you get the season pass. That’s because you’ll also get the remastered versions of Assassin’s Creed 3 and Assassin’s Creed Liberation for free. Finally, those who buy the Gold, Ultimate, and Collector’s Editions will also get a chance to play the game three days earlier than the rest on October 2.
Next week, we’ll see the release of Activision’s juggernaut, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Likewise, WWE 2K19 will also enter the ring, although Deluxe Edition edition owners will get it first.
