While Diablo 4 is not free to play, it will have seasons that feature battle passes with loads of themed cosmetics. Diablo 4 comes out June 6, 2023, but Season 1 doesn’t come with it. That being said, when does Diablo 4 Season 1 start and what will the battle pass look like?

Diablo 4 Season 1 start date, explained

According to Blizzard, Diablo 4 Season 1 will start sometime between June and July. Our guess is that Season 1 will start on a Tuesday, since that’s when live service games usually have their weekly reset and its the day Diablo 4 releases.

If we have to pick a day, we think Diablo 4 Season 1 will start on June 27 or July 4. Granted, this is just our best guess — we’ll need to wait to hear the official Diablo 4 start date from Blizzard.

Blizzard has also confirmed that there will normally be four Diablo 4 seasons in one year. With that said, we can expect each Diablo 4 season to be three months long.

Diablo 4 Season 1 battle pass rewards, explained

We know Diablo 4 Season 1 and the seasons beyond it won’t offer new story — separate DLC will do that. However, each season brings a new battle pass that is chalk full of cosmetic rewards and maybe even free Platinum.

Blizzard has said that each Diablo 4 season will have a unique theme, similar to how Overwatch 2 does themed seasons. We don’t know the theme of Diablo 4 Season 1 just yet, but stay tuned as the start date and battle pass theme will likely be announced on the same day.

As all battle passes are, the Diablo 4 battle pass has a free track and a premium track. If you bought the Digital Deluxe or Ultimate Editions of Diablo 4, you get the Season 1 premium battle pass for free.

How to play Diablo 4 Season 1?

Diablo 4 Season 1 isn’t free to play — you need to be an owner of the full game to enjoy Season 1. Also, you need to have completed the campaign to enjoy the Season 1 battle pass, so take the month to enjoy the story and prepare for endgame.
