Where the hell is our Cyberpunk 2077 review?

On the way.
Cd Projekt Red cyberpunk review progress

Good things come for those who wait, as the saying often goes. Of course, I’ve always been of the mind that good things come for those who work for them, but I digress. It’s been more than eight years since CD Projekt Red revealed Cyberpunk 2077. During the interim, we were graced by the excellence of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its two expansion packs. Though the game was a great time, we still wondered about CDPR’s dystopian, high-tech opus. Now, Cyberpunk 2077 is only days away. And, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, the first reviews are hitting the internet, allowing people to complain for three entire days before playing it themselves. This, of course, leads us to the question at hand: where the hell is PC Invasion’s review?

The easy answer? We don’t have it… yet. A somewhat more complicated answer, however, is that we will, but we don’t know when. With fingers crossed, we’ll likely dive into Night City today or tomorrow and have early impressions out soon after. Cyberpunk 2077 is a massive game, and we plan on experiencing as much of its grim, sprawling world as possible before providing our thoughts. Will our review land on launch day? It’s possible! But your guess is as good as ours.

Regardless, we plan on providing you some of our best content on the game. Expect impressions followed by a review, with guides and possibly features after. We’re going to pick apart its world, bringing you the in-depth guides you’ve come to expect from us and our expert guides team.

T-posing for dominance

As I mentioned, the reviews are out, and we’ve heard some things that line up to expectations. The biggest takeaway, of course, is that Cyberpunk 2077 is a tad on the buggy side — even with a pre-launch patch. This is expected. Cyberpunk 2077 is a massive game with so many interweaving parts that bugs are a given. I’ve heard report of a barfly T-posing aggressively at one reviewer, while another critic had stuck visual glitches. And there was one unfortunate soul who had to reload a game several times to get an elevator working. Again, we had a feeling this was going to be the case. Developers typically won’t delay a game multiple times a year because everything is too perfect. For those who want the best experience when playing the game for the first time, you may want to wait for some chunky patches.

On the other hand, today’s impressions do offer a glimpse on what will keep you invested, regardless of the mess. The story of Cyberpunk 2077 is reported to wrap up after about 20-30 hours of play time if you go straight through the missions. However, the game is overflowing with distractions along the way, much like CDPR’s prior releases. With only a week of play time, reviewers weren’t able to try them all. But the ones I’ve read about sound great.

Side missions are among the developer’s greatest strengths. I recall one monster hunt in The Witcher 3 that began simple enough before evolving into a dramatic tale of betrayal and revenge. Man, I was just looking for some extra coin. The campaign of Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t match up to that of Geralt’s final journey (which was about 50 hours), but there should be dozens more hours of intriguing narrative to wile away your time.

We’re looking forward to experiencing it all ourselves and letting you know our thoughts. The wait will only be just a little while longer.
