Being set back to square one in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is rough. But unlike the Master Sword being taken away from you in the first area of the game, did you know you can actually regain the Hylian Shield right off the bat when you return to the mainland? It’s there, just hidden away in the area below Hyrule Castle. No one wants a shield that breaks, so head off towards the chasm of Hyrule Castle. We earned that shield, and we’re getting it back, now. Here’s where to find the Hylian Shield in Tears of the Kingdom.
Hylian Shield location – A tearful reunion
The Hylian Shield is hidden away underneath the west outer ring of the Hyrule Castle chasm in the Docks area. This area has two possible entrances.
You could go through the bottom entrance:
Or the top entrance:
There is a correct answer. I highly recommend going through the top. The reason being if you brave going through the bottom, you’ll have to run away from a patch of Gloom with hands trying to sap you into another X on your map. And I don’t know about you but those things scare the shit out of me. No thanks, I’m good.
On the contrary, if you approach the cavern from the top, you can head straight down to the area with the Hylian Shield.
You’ll find yourself in a space with torches and a giant, unlit torch. It’s as simple as it looks. Light the middle torch however you see fit.
When you do, a chest appears. And in that chest is your cold, hard, metallic child.
Finally reunited at last. The last however many hours of gameplay without it were too much to bear, but no longer. Venture forth with your protective companion and try not to die to any Gloom patches.
