Where to get and farm Warm Safflina in Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

It keeps you warm at night.

In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll come across a lot of components for recipes and crafting that don’t seem exciting at a glance. However, some of them can have a tremendous impact on your ability to survive encounters with enemies faced in harsh elements. Here is our guide on where to get and farm Warm Safflina in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom – where to get and farm Warm Safflina, locations

Warm Safflina is an important item because you can use it to improve your resistance to frigid temperatures. Initially, you might wish to use it as an ingredient for useful dishes. Each bit of Warm Safflina you include adds two full bars of Cold Resistance that endure for 2:30. Once you meet with the Great Fairies and they start upgrading your armor, Warm Safflina is a necessary component (along with still more Red Chuchu Jelly) to enhance your Snowquill set the second time.

You can get and farm Warm Safflina in a few regions around Hyrule. I found it easiest to get and farm near Death Mountain and in the Gerudo Desert.

If you want to gather several of the plant in short order, check for Warm Safflina along the slopes northwest of Death Mountain. You can head up the East Deplian Badlands slope from Mayak Shrine to find the first of four plants growing along that slope (see the map above). Follow that slope west to find the other three. That’s my favorite gathering location for the plant because you don’t have to fight the desert heat.

In Gerudo Desert, check around Karahatag Shrine near the Southern Oasis. I’ve been all over the desert, but I have yet to find a place where Warm Safflina grows more abundantly. Fast travel to the shrine. Then, drop down to the sand around the base of the rock ledge where the shrine rests. Circle around it to find numerous Warm Safflina plants.

Hopefully, you won’t need to gather much Warm Safflina on your adventure. You’ll likely acquire gear that makes its recipes redundant. I bought the Snowquill set pretty early on in Rito Village. I’m happy to wear the set’s upgraded version whenever I explore excessively chilly regions. Once you’ve upgraded that armor, there’s not much reason to worry about Warm Safflina.
