World of Tanks celebrates birthday

Although World of Tanks only launched fully this year, the game has actually been around longer than you think.
Through various regional beta tests, World of Tanks is actually one year old and Wargaming.Net must be pleased as punch that the game has now reached a milestone of 5,000,000 registered accounts.
Wargaming.Net points out that one of their greatest achievements so far has been the Guinness World Record they set on 23 January this year when peak number of concurrent users reached 91,311. That figure now pales in comparison to the numbers they say they are now receiving which have topped 172,000.
“We didn’t expect World of Tanks would become this popular,” said Wargaming.net CEO Victor Kislyi. “The game’s success has given us confidence we needed to continue our expansion into the world of online wargames.”
