Dragon’s Dogma 2: What are Dragonsplague symptoms?

While having your Pawn catch Dragonsplague can be terrifying, it’s entirely preventable. There are a few notable symptoms you should look out for in your Pawns when attempting to catch Dragonsplague before it gets worse:

  • Red eyes: If any of your Pawns have the early signs of Dragonsplague, their eyes will occasionally be glowing red. You may have to remove their helmets or masks if they wear them. Check their eyes often.
  • Disobeying commands: Another symptom of Dragonsplague is Pawns not listening to your Arisen’s commands. If you tell your Pawn to wait and they seem indignant while not obeying the command, they probably have Dragonsplague.
  • Strange idle animation: Pawns with Dragonsplague have unique idle animations where they look in pain. Usually, they act like they’re having a headache as they hold their head with their hand.

These are the three main signs that your main Pawn, or your hired Pawns, have Dragonsplague. They’re just the beginning signs of it, and typically this can result in nice benefits like buffs to their stats. But if left untreated those buffs will slowly evolve into something much worse, leading many players to wake up to realize their Pawn had murdered an entire village overnight.

How to cure Dragonsplague

So how can you prevent your main Pawn from catching Dragonsplague, and how can you cure it if they do have it? First off, you should make sure to dismiss any hired Pawns with Dragonsplague. If you keep a hired Pawn around that has Dragonsplague, this can lead to your main Pawn catching it.

But what if your main Pawn has Dragonsplague? Players online have realized that you can cure Dragonsplague by picking up your Pawn and tossing them into the water. Since the Brine will end up killing your main Pawn after they fall into deep waters, this will also cure them of Dragonsplague. You can then bring them back to life by pulling them from a Rift Stone, and they’ll be as good as new.

If Dragonsplague does infect your main Pawn and you don’t realize it, what happens when they kill an entire town? Although you may believe your save file to be destroyed, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. According to this Reddit post on the Dragon’s Dogma subreddit, after a certain amount of time (around three days) all main story characters will be revived.

Side story characters will still be dead, but you can revive them using Wakestones. Another way to revive everyone is to use an Eternal Wakestone, which can revive an entire town. You can get an Eternal Wakestone by unlocking the chest behind the Sphinx boss.

Hopefully, you have an easy time dealing with Dragonsplague now that you know its symptoms and how to cure it in Dragon’s Dogma 2. On the topic of Pawns, you may be interested in getting your Pawn hired more if they’re an A+ Pawn without a single sign of Dragonsplague.
