Tri-Emblems are a staple accessory of the Star Ocean franchise. They buff your defense in various ways and outshine most other defensive accessories in the game. Here’s where you can find Tri-Emblems in Star Ocean: The Second Story R.

How to find Tri-Emblems in Star Ocean: The Second Story R

Normally, you can’t find items like Tri-Emblems until near the end of the game in some tough dungeons. This is because these are pretty broken accessories and can make most enemy encounters a joke. But of course, this is Star Ocean: The Second Story R, and there’s always another way to go about getting these items.

The normal and guaranteed way to get a Tri-Emblem is by progressing through the game and finding the Maze of Tribulations. This is a dungeon made up of various floors and on the sixth floor there’s a chance that Santa might appear. I know that sounds strange but trust me Expel’s Santa also has plenty of presents to give out. One of these items is a Tri-Emblem, but he also sells a bunch of other incredibly powerful items like Santa’s Boosts and Jewels of the Frog.

Alternatively, you can attempt to gain a Tri-Emblem using any of the game’s ways to receive a random item. As far as I’m aware anything that rewards you a random item has a chance of giving you a Tri-Emblem. This chance is incredibly small though so don’t expect the game to be giving these out constantly. The easiest way to try this yourself is by using the Contraband Super Speciality and making Item Orders and Seizure Warrants.

I’ve tried opening both of these items for an hour or two and haven’t received a Tri-Emblem just yet. However, I did earn the Sword of Marvels for Claude which happens to be one of the best weapons in the game right next to the Aeterna. Plus I also got the lower-tier Tri-Emblum accessory which is the fake one you can see in the above picture. So Tri-Emblems have to be a part of the pool as well. It just seems like the odds are extremely low. So if this doesn’t end up working for you, stick with the first method.
