Talents and Skills

  • Normal Attack: Abductive Reasoning – Buffs Alhaitham’s normal, charged, and plunging attacks.
  • Elemental Skill: Universality An Elaboration on Form – Causes Alhaitham to rush forward to deal Dendro damage, while spawning Chisel-Light Mirrors:
    • The skill creates two mirrors if you don’t have any, or one if others already exist. Up to three can exist at any given time.
    • Causes Dendro infusion.
    • Fires Projection Attacks (i.e., projectiles) based on the number of mirrors that exist.
    • Each mirror disappears in succession after four seconds; all mirrors despawn if Alhaitham leaves the field.
  • Elemental Burst: Particular Field Fetters of Phenomena – Creates an AoE field that deals Dendro damage four times by default:
    • If 1/2/3 mirrors exist, they are consumed and the AoE field attack instances increase to 6/8/10.
    • Will generate 3/2/1/0 mirrors depending on how many were consumed two seconds after the burst is activated. For example, if there are no mirrors when you activate your burst, then Alhaitham will gain three mirrors after a couple of seconds.

Passive Talents

  • Law of Reductive Overdetermination – +10% chance to double weapon ascension materials when crafting.
  • Four-Causal Correction – Charged and plunging attacks generate one Chisel-Light Mirror; occurs every 12 seconds.
  • Mysteries Laid Bare – Gain +0.1% damage for your Chisel-Light Mirror projectiles (from your skill and burst) for every point of elemental mastery (EM) that you have. The damage can be boosted by up to 100% (at 1,000 EM).

Constellations

  • C1: Intuition – Decreases the cooldown of your skill by 1.2 seconds when a mirror’s projectile hits an opponent.
  • C2: Debate – +50 EM for eight second when Alhaitham generates a mirror (max of four stacks); can trigger even when you’ve already reached the maximum number of mirrors.
  • C3: Negation – +3 elemental skill level; max upgrade level of 15.
  • C4: Elucidation – Each mirror consumed when you activate your burst grants +10% Dendro damage bonus for Alhaitham and +30 EM for other party members.
  • C5: Sagacity – +3 elemental burst level; max upgrade level of 15.
  • C6: Structuration – Will always generate three Chisel-Light Mirrors regardless of the number consumed by his burst. If you already have the max number of mirrors and you generate additional ones, gain +10% crit rate and +70% crit damage for six seconds; the duration can be refreshed if you spawn another mirror.

Talent/constellation priorities and summary

With the best build, Alhaitham can be a stellar Dendro driver in Genshin Impact, though there are also some caveats:

  • Talent priorities: Elemental skill -> Elemental burst -> Normal attack.
  • All three need to be leveled in due course if you want to maximize Alhaitham’s capabilities, making him a very expensive character to build extensively.
    • His Chisel-Light Mirror damage is modified by his elemental skill level, though the mechanic is also used by his burst.
    • His burst has a default number of proc instances depending on the number of mirrors consumed, though the single-instance damage is further modified by leveling.
    • Lastly, given that Alhaitham will be on the field for a prolonged time as a main DPS character, and because he’s got Dendro infused attacks when mirrors are around, you’ll also need to level his normal attack talent.
  • It can take a while to get used to Alhaitham’s kit given that it’s heavily reliant on managing your existing mirrors:
    • The ideal option is to pop the abilities of other party members first, then use Alhaitham’s burst to begin his sequence. After a couple of seconds, he should have three mirrors.
    • Alternatively, you can opt to use his skill first (spawns two mirrors), followed by a charged attack (spawns a third mirror), then his burst (consumes mirrors to increase the damage instances). However, this can be a hassle since you’d need to time it right before a mirror disappears, and you’d also have to wait for his elemental skill’s cooldown since the burst will consume existing mirrors.
  • Alhaitham’s mirror projectiles scale off both ATK and EM, but EM has the higher coefficient. You don’t really need to stack EM on him, but you should have around 500 (i.e., 50% projectile damage increase).
  • Moreover, Alhaitham’s ascension boosts his Dendro damage (i.e., up to 28.8% at his highest ascension), which turns him into a powerhouse.
  • Lastly, the constellations of 5-star characters are very expensive to get. Still, if you plan on splurging:
    • C1 will slightly help with your rotation since it lowers the skill’s cooldown whenever a projectile hits an enemy.
    • Meanwhile, C2 grants extra EM, which is always useful.
    • And, of course, there’s C4, which can give Alhaitham an extra 30% Dendro damage bonus.

In any case, that does it for this part of our Genshin Impact Alhaitham best build guide. Next up, we take a look at the best weapons, best artifacts, and ideal team comps.
