How to get Flamebreaker armor in Tears of the Kingdom

For when it's feeling toasty.

The Fire Temple lives up to its name with relentless high temperatures that’ll barbeque Link over time without protective gear. There are two ways to deal with hot places like this. You can rely on Elixirs that grant temporary Flame Guard, but you’d need to craft a lot of them for something as vast as the Fire Temple. Instead, go get the Flamebreaker armor and you’ll see how useful equipable Flame Guard is to have in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Another perk of the Flamebreaker armor is that it grants the Fireproof effect if you equip the entire set. That includes the helmet/mask, the body armor, and the boots/legs. Fireproof grants even more protection from fire damage such as against flames, viscous lava formations, and fire-based attacks from enemies. This makes it ideal for use in the Fire Temple.

The only way to get the Flamebreaker armor is to buy it from a vendor in Goron City. You can find the shop at the map coordinates 1601, 2824, 0424. The Flamebreaker armor set is out on pedestals in the shop and you can buy each piece individually. The prices are as follows:

  • Flamebreaker Helm: 1,400 Rupees
  • Flamebreaker Armor: 700 Rupees
  • Flamebreaker Boots: 1,200 Rupees

It’s expensive for the whole set, but you’ll quickly realize it is worth it if you attempt the Fire Temple without any of the armor equipped. You only need to equip a single piece of Flamebreaker armor to gain the Flame Guard effect for protection against the radiant heat in the Fire Temple. However, the Fireproof effect will make things all the easier.

Keep in mind that Fireproof is not a guarantee of protection from all things hot and flaming. You will still die if you fall in lava and you will take damage from direct enemy attacks based on fire damage. It might take you some Rupee farming to get enough money for the Flamebreaker armor, but at least the way how to get it in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is no sweat.
