In a post from Blizzard’s Diablo 3 game director Jay Wilson he reveals that plans have now changed for the release of PvP in the game.

Originally Blizzard had stated that the Diablo 3 PvP would launch with a Team Deathmatch mode, this has now been postponed after play testing within the company. Testers felt that the it the mode lacked “depth” and “fighting with no other objectives” would not give the mode any longevity.

Blizzard has now decided that Team Deathmatch doesn’t live up to the quality of Blizzard games and they are “going back to the drawing board” to find a replacement for the mode.

They say that it might still be added in the future as a free content update but for now they are focusing on a Duelling mode that will be released in patch v1.07 some time at the start of 2013. More information about the duelling mode will be released in the future.
