Confusion Over XCOM Development Team

It seems 2K Games’ press release announcing development of a new XCOM title may have omitted a couple of details.

While the announcement made reference to “the studio behind the multi-million selling Bioshock 2,” 1up reported yesterday that in fact a new Australian division, and not the core team behind Bioshock 2, is working on XCOM.

But wait! Today, Joystiq are reporting that 2K Games representative Charlie Sinhaseni has told them “2K Marin, both the Novato, California and Canberra, Australia arms of the studio, are collaborating on XCOM. The two function as sister studios now.”

The same article suggests that the California arm of 2K Marin is working exclusively on XCOM.

So it seems that only certain parts of the studio behind Bioshock 2 will be working on the new title. This news may not be too bad though, as the Canberra section of 2K did work on the original Bioshock.

We barely know anything about the game yet, but it’s already turning out to be as baffling as a government conspiracy.
