Modern Warfare 3: Best game modes for camos

The Camo challenges are no joke. While they might start simple enough, the sheer volume of kills and every single condition and kill type can feel overwhelming. Thankfully, while skill is the primary factor for unlocking these, there are some game modes in Modern Warfare 3 that will make your significantly easier. Or at least easier during virtual sessions of mindlessly shooting at pixels resembling enemy soldiers. Oh well, that’s the best we can do for now, and you bet we’ll do. Here are the best game modes for camos in Modern Warfare 3.

Hardcore

While this is not precisely a match type but a complete overhaul of the in-game rules, Hardcore is by far the best thing that has happened to camo challenges. Why? Well, the number of kills one will need to collect to get one specific camo – more specifically with the higher tier ones – can become ludicrous, especially if further modifiers like getting multiple kills on a single life or while strafing and ADS start to pop out. For that same reason, optimizing the time you spend shooting at enemies is the number one priority so that you don’t spend a whole life attempting to unlock a camo that perhaps you are never going to use, but need to unlock to start the Gilded camo challenges.

So, while you can certainly be killed in the blink of an eye, the same thing applies to enemy Operators. Racking up kills in Hardcore is simply a delight, but just be careful not to get too cocky and always look for any type of cues that may give up the enemy’s location. Otherwise, be prepared for some frustration and the occasional rage quit.

Team Deathmatch / Invasion

While this might be a “basic” take on what game modes are best used for camo challenges, the truth is that classic modes are classic for a reason, and the advantage of having a supporting team on your side is what will allow you to get some good camo challenges up and going. You can tag along your crewmates and face the enemy up front, or use the layout of the map and your team’s position to guess where the enemy Operators will pop out. This will allow you to plan ahead and even flank the enemy while they are just spawning or focused on heading straight to your team’s frontlines. Overall, a great way to strategize ahead while also having friends who will give your life defending you. Or at least that’s the idea.

Invasion is like a Team Deathmatch but elevated to epic and bigger proportions. It is a great way to stack kills thanks to the increased number of Operators per team and the fact that NPCs are also part of the fun, allowing you to initially rank kills faster. A lot of close encounters, fights for vantage points, and the vantage points themselves will allow you to rank up kills with your weapon of choice, especially those sniper rifles that will greatly benefit from the longer distances.

Free-For-All

Ready for some madness? Well, how about playing a game of Free-For-All on a small map such as Rust? Yeah, I know, living or dying feels more like a coin toss than a conscious selection of in-game choices, but having more targets to kill while attempting to control the only vantage point in a small map is extremely fun – and frustrating, of course. Yeah, you might not get a great K/D ratio, but what you will collect – if you are skillful enough – is kills, and kills you will need to get some of the late-game camos. It is not the greatest mode for camos out of this list, but brings enough fun and straight-up action that it is worth trying.

Domination / Hardpoint

Now, Domination and Hardpoint may look like an odd inclusion in this list since they are more geared toward XP gains than camos. However, while experimenting with both game modes, I have found out that these match types are a great way to rank up kills. Why? Well, while it is an undeniable truth that players have historically disregarded playing the objective in the hopes of ranking kills to get a Tactical Nuke or anything similar, Domination and Hardpoint still have players that will try to capture each of the zones in the map.

Therefore, by being their enemy, you will now know where the enemy Operators are located and where will they spawn. Just waiting for enemies to attempt to capture a zone is a great way to gather kills. Surprising them while trying to defend their control points is also a great choice. Overall, predict the enemy location based on the control points and you will have camos unlocking in no time.

If you feel like any other mode works for your specific playstyle, go ahead! This game modes list is designed to help you unlock your weapon camos as fast and as efficiently as possible, but if you don’t like objective-based modes then you can just focus on modes such as TDM or FFA. Good luck with them camos!
