6 best games like Enshrouded

Enshrouded is great, but here are some other games to enshroud yourself in.

Among the survival crafting genre, Enshrouded made its mark in a somewhat crowded market. Still, it’s a big market, and therefore with a lot of room for games that feel just like it. Here are the five best games like Enshrouded.

6 best games like Enshrouded: 6. Grounded

In Grounded, you’ve been shrunk down to the size of an ant and have to explore the world from that perspective. Or, rather, explore a backyard that feels as big as a planet. It’s Honey, I Shrunk The Kids: The Game. Basically.

Survival multiplayer crafting ensues as you have to figure out a way to survive while being teeny tiny. Grounded is best described as a somewhat surrealist Enshrouded; the grand fantasy exploration is instead achieved by having the world be grand in size. Overall, it’s pretty fun to explore the world and battle insects and fungi. It makes for a fresh angle on the same feeling of wonder Enshrouded is going for.

5. Necesse

Necesse is sort of like the feeling of Enshrouded mixed with Terraria. It’s a pixelated 8-bit gamewhere you get to build, craft, and have your fantasy adventure fighting monsters in a randomly generated world, complete with deep dungeons and fearsome bosses. It should be more than enough to scratch Enshrouded’s exploration itch.

4. Conan Exiles

Imagine Enshrouded, but more gruesome. hardcore, and barbaric. That’s essentially Conan Exiles. It’s an open-world dark fantasy survival game. While Necesse has more of the child-friendly fantasy feel, Conan Exiles is for sure a more mature game for adults that like blood and guts, while Enshrouded falls somewhere between the two. So if you want a more gritty Enshrouded, Conan Exiles has you covered with more fantasy lands to explore and a lot of combat.

3. V Rising

Speaking of more gritty fantasy, V-Rising is a full-on dark fantasy aesthetic complementary to Enshrouded’s. Not only do you get to explore the world, survive, and build bases, but you’re also a vampire and the world is very gothic in tone and feeling. It’s like horror-themed Enshrouded, and I don’t know about you but that sounds pretty awesome to me.

2. Scrap Mechanic Survival

This entry is further away from fantasy than the rest of the list so far, but it has all the enjoyable survival and building elements that will satisfy Enshrouded players who are in it for the genre and gameplay. Plus, like Necesse and Enshrouded, it’s multiplayer! In Scrap Mechanic Survival, you crash land on a planet full of robots that want to kill you, which I suppose makes this one what if Enshrouded was wacky and science fiction. They may not be magical creatures like the rest of these games, but sometimes you just want to fight robots.

1. Valheim

To put it simply, Valheim is a Norse version of Enshrouded. You get the joy of castle building, but you also get to sail on boats to explore islands, and up to 10 players can play with you, all with the classic boss battles and survival. Valheim is just more of everything that works about Enshrouded in a different flavor. If you’re hungry for more well-executed survival crafting, Valheim should help you take your fill.

The magic of magical games like Enshrouded is they know what works, and it translates well across the genre. Enshrouded is its memorable entry, but these five games should be just as enjoyable if you’re trying to satisfy your urge to explore and fight monsters.
