World of Warcraft Plunderstorm: Best skills in the game

While you can avoid conflict at all costs during your Plunderstorm matches in World of Warcraft, you will eventually have to deal with enemy players who are not as peaceful as you are.

However, even if you level up considerably and have a good amount of Health and Damage output available, a lack of spells and abilities – now referred to as skills – will put you at a huge disadvantage. The number of times I’ve been obliterated by enemy spells is more than I’m willing to admit.

So, if you don’t want to suffer the same fate, please, get skills from treasure chests and creatures. And if you do, be sure to pick the skills below, the best ones in World of Warcraft Plunderstorm.

Best WoW Plunderstorm Skills

SkillTypeDescriptionStrategy
Fire WhirlOffensiveEngulf yourself in flames and rush forward, damaging enemies you pass through. This is by far the best skill you can find in Plunderstorm. The idea alone of dealing AoE damage via a flame storm is enough, but given the increased speed you get, you are the monsters kids – and me – have nightmares about.
Holy ShieldOffensiveHurl a blessed shield forward, damaging enemies in its path before returning to you. Recast to trigger a holy explosion at the shield’s location. When you first step into the battle royale grounds of Arathi Highlands, the lack of of a decent ranged skill can be a problem. Thankfully, the Holy Shield will get the job done, making sure enemies get to experience the durability of your shield, face first.
Steel TrapsUtilityToss a cluster of steel traps directly in front of the caster, rooting and damaging enemies that trigger them.Using traps to damage enemies has never been my thing, but freezing them in place and damaging them instantly whenever they are near you? Well, Steel Traps may be the exception to the rule!
Rime ArrowOffensiveFire an icy arrow that seeks your current target, damaging them and nearby enemies. The Rime Arrow not only has a greater range than the Holy Shield, but its homing capability will ensure you always hit the target and the surrounding area – unless you are really bad at aiming.
Fade to ShadowUtilityFade into the shadows, teleporting in the direction you are moving while entering stealth for a short duration.I am no stranger to being killed first in Plunderstorm, so Fade to Shadow is a great way to disappear and ensure you live to Plunder some more before meeting your inevitable death – because winning is a very ambitious ordeal.
Storm ArchonOffensiveCall forth the elements, unleashing a destructive barrage in front of the caster. Recast Storm Archon to call another element. Can be recast twice.Another ranged attack option, the Storm Archon can help you deal elemental damage from afar, making sure that your enemies suffer from a decent AoE attack that will get you out of trouble.
WindstormUtilityTurbulent winds form in front of the caster that surge forward, damaging and stunning the first enemy struck. This combines both ranged and status attacks by dealing damage but also making your enemy whirlwind in a move that makes no sense with physics laws, but surely works out nicely to get rid of enemies that will not stop attacking you.

I would suggest picking any skill you can find if you are severely lacking from good RNG since it is the determining factor for each of these. However, once you find some of the above, don’t skip out on them and equip them instead of any lesser skills you might have picked up before.

How to level up quickly in World of Warcraft Plunderstorm

Now, if you have the best skills in Plunderstorm and don’t have enough health, then you are trying to drive a Lamborghini with a triple-A battery. Leveling up is as important as getting skills in the game due to the survivability side – leveling up will increase your Health and Damage – of Plunderstorm, which cannot be ignored. Therefore, to complement your magic skills, you need to get XP and level up by doing the following:

  • Defeat enemy players.
  • Defeat creatures and human mobs, including bosses.
  • Plunder away – collect gold and treasure chests.

Of course, killing enemy players will net a good chunk of XP, but it is extremely risky to face players who could probably deal a deathly blow without even breaking a sweat. So, instead, I would recommend focusing on defeating mobs and bosses. The first of these are located almost everywhere, but you could make use of them by dropping in highly populated areas such as Hammerfall, Witherbark Village, and Stormgrade Keep. Amass kills and XP and you will level up considerably.

Note: these levels are completely different from the Renown levels you gain which will net you Renown rewards. Your character’s match level will reset in every single match, making sure that all players have the same starting chance to win.
