Genshin Impact: How to unlock Fontaine

The Hydro land awaits.

Genshin Impact‘s long-awaited Fontaine update is here, the fifth region in the game following Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru. For those who are itching to witness the land of the Hydro archon, you might be wondering how to get to Fontaine for the first time. Fortunately, you don’t necessarily need to be caught up with all the Archon quests to unlock this new world. Your exploration of Teyvat can continue by following these simple steps. Here’s how to get to Fontaine in Genshin Impact.

Most players will encounter Fontaine after completing the Chapter 3 Archon Quest: Calibert. Completing this quest will grant you access to Chapter 4’s Archon Quest, which will lead you toward Fontaine naturally. However, you don’t need to complete this quest to access Fontaine, which is particularly helpful for new players who need materials from Fontaine for their characters. If you aren’t caught up with the Archon quests, just follow these steps.

To get to Fontaine in Genshin Impact, head to the Teleport Waypoint located in the top right of the Realm of Farakhkert in Sumeru. If you haven’t unlocked it yet, the location is here (you can see a new Statue of the Seven is already opened up here):

Upon taking this Waypoint, you’ll encounter a small cutscene that introduces you to the land of Fontaine. You should see a Statue of the Seven looming in the distance. To get there, climb down the mountainside you’ll see after taking the Teleport Waypoint. At the bottom, you’ll find a Waverider waypoint which will spawn a Waverider you can use to travel across the water and head to Fontaine.

That’s all you need to do to access Fontaine! You will need to have Sumeru mostly unlocked to reach Fontaine, but if you do, you shouldn’t have any issues accessing the new world.
