Genshin Impact Shenhe guide -- Best weapons, artifacts, and talents

Shenhe is a 5-star character in Genshin Impact. She uses a polearm to battle foes, though she mostly provides support to Cryo teammates. Here's our Genshin Impact Shenhe guide to help you with her best weapons, artifacts, talents, and build. Genshin Impact Shenhe guide - Best weapons, artifacts, and talents I've divided our Genshin Impact Shenhe guide into several sections. You can refer to the pages below for the parts that you need help with: Talent priorities, passives, and constellations Best weapons Best artifact sets Character ascension materials Damage boost explanation, gameplay tips, and character summary Note: Shenhe headlines a banner called "The Transcendent One Returns," which also happens to feature Yun Jin (a new 4-star Geo character), Ningguang, and Chongyun. The banner runs from January 5 to January 25. Genshin Impact Shenhe guide - Talent priorities and passives Let's talk about Shenhe's build in Genshin Impact based on her talent priorities and passives. Normal Attack: Dawnstar Piercer - This improves Shenhe's normal, charged, and plunging attacks. We'll ignore this talent. Elemental Burst: Divine Maiden's Deliverance - This creates a small AoE field that deals Cryo damage. Enemies within this field also lose Cryo and Physical damage resistances (up to a maximum of 15% at talent level 10). You won't really need to invest in this too much. Elemental Skill: Spring Spirit Summoning - This is the talent you want to prioritize for Shenhe. It can be pressed or held down before casting, allowing for multiple mechanics: Talisman Spirit - This is the main method that allows Shenhe to deal damage with this skill. Her actual damage with this isn't important. Icy Quill - Shenhe's skill, while the duration is active, adds damage to various Cryo hits from all kinds of attacks, skills, and bursts. This scales based on her current ATK when those hits are occurring. Each party member, including Shenhe, has a limit as to how many times they can trigger this effect. Mechanic Shenhe's E. Skill Button Pressed Shenhe's E. Skill Button Held Skill Duration 10 seconds 15 seconds Skill Cooldown 10 seconds 15 seconds Trigger Limit (per character) Five hits Seven hits Spirit Communion Seal (passive) +15% skill and burst damage for 10 seconds +15% normal, charged, and plunging attack damage for 10 seconds Note: We discuss the Icy Quill buff in our character summary section. Sufficed to say, we're going to be stacking a ton of ATK/ATK%. Passive Talents Precise Comings and Goings - +25% more rewards for Shenhe in a Liyue expedition. Deific Embrace - Active characters within the AoE field of her burst gain +15% Cryo damage. Spirit Communion Seal - Shenhe's elemental skill/Icy Quill provides boosts whether the button is pressed or held (seen in the table above). Note: Shenhe's talents require Prosperity booklets from Taishan Mansion (Monday, Thursday, and Sunday), as well as Whopperflower Nectars. For higher levels, she needs the Hellfire Butterfly dropped by La Signora. Constellations C1: Clarity of Heart - Shenhe's elemental skill can be used one additional time. C2: Centered Spirit - Shenhe's elemental burst lasts six seconds longer and characters within the field gain +15% Cryo crit damage bonus. C3: Seclusion - +3 levels for your elemental skill; maximum level is 15. C4: Insight - When the Icy Quill bonus damage is triggered, Shenhe gains a Skyfrost Mantra stack. Upon using her elemental skill once more, all Skyfrost Mantra stacks are consumed. Each stack adds 5% damage to her elemental skill (maximum of 50 stacks and lasts for 60 seconds). C5: Divine Attainment - +3 levels for your elemental burst; maximum level is 15. C6: Mystical Abandon - Normal and charged attacks no longer count toward the Icy Quill trigger quota/limit. All right, let's go to the next part of our Genshin Impact Shenhe guide to talk about the best weapon options for her. Genshin Impact: The best weapon for Shenhe - Calamity Queller and other options Let's discuss the best weapons in Genshin Impact for Shenhe. Calamity Queller (ATK%) - +12% elemental damage bonus; grants Consummation effect for 20 seconds after using an elemental skill: Consummation provides +3.2% ATK per second up to six seconds (19.2% ATK). If Shenhe is not on the field, Consummation is doubled (up to 38.4% ATK). The Calamity Queller polearm is definitely the best weapon right now for Shenhe. You can get it from lucky pulls in the current Epitome Invocation banner that coincides with Shenhe's release. Remember, her Icy Quill buff uses her current ATK to determine the damage boosts received by other teammates. The Consummation effect ramps it up even further. Because it works even when Shenhe isn't on the field, you can pop her elemental skill and swap to other characters to gain increased DPS. Lithic Spear (ATK%) - A 4-star weapon from gacha wishes, the Lithic Spear grants +7% ATK and +3% crit rate for each party member who hails from Liyue. This means you need a strict party composition (i.e., Shenhe, Ganyu, Xinqiu, and Qiqi) to have a constant +28% ATK buff. Royal Spear (ATK%) - This one is from Paimon's Shop. We don't really need the crit stuff here since we're not building Shenhe as a main/sub-DPS, so we're just looking at the ATK and ATK%. Wavebreaker's Fin (ATK%) - Another 4-star gacha polearm, the Wavebreaker's Fin has ATK% as a sub-stat and a high base ATK stat when maxed out. It can also help improve Shenhe's burst damage, though it's not as important if we're building her to support our Cryo characters. The Catch (energy recharge) or Favonius Lance (energy recharge) - The Catch (from the fishing minigame) and the Favonius Lance (from gacha wishes) are decent weapons for Shenhe. The Favonius Lance does have a higher base ATK stat. Deathmatch (crit rate) - Deathmatch is an alternative weapon for Shenhe if you got it from the Premium Battle Pass. If there are at least two opponents nearby, it'll increase ATK and DEF by 16%. If there are fewer than two opponents, you'll get 24% ATK instead. This buff is always active even if Shenhe isn't on the field. The only downside is the weapon's pitifully low base ATK stat. Halberd (ATK%) - If you really don't have anything else, then you can use the 3-star Halberd (which is a fairly common drop). It still has ATK% as a sub-stat, and its base ATK is comparable to the Deathmatch. Okay, let's move on to the next part of our Genshin Impact Shenhe guide to talk about the best artifact sets for her. Genshin Impact: The best artifact set for Shenhe - Gladiator's Finale and Shimenawa's Reminiscence combo Let's discuss the best artifact set in Genshin Impact for Shenhe. Gladiator's Finale and Shimenawa's Reminiscence Right now, we're only looking at artifacts that can increase Shenhe's ATK%. Both the two-piece Gladiator's Finale and Shimenawa's Reminisce sets provide +18% ATK. The former can be acquired as regular drops from normal boss elites and weekly bosses. The latter, meanwhile, comes from the Momiji-Dyed Court domain. Artifact Rolls Main stat - ATK% goblet, sands, and circlet. Sub stats - Try to have ATK% in other pieces. Have extra energy recharge as well because Shenhe's burst costs a whopping 80 energy. Note: Shenhe's character ascension will also increase her ATK% (up to 28.8% after ascending her past level 80). Character ascension materials Shenhe's character ascension materials can be found all over Teyvat. Here they are: Whopperflower Nectars - Dropped by Whopperflowers. Shivada Jade – Dropped by the Cryo Regisvine, Cryo Hypostasis, Andrius, and Bathysmal Vishap Herd; purchased from Souvenir Shop; higher-tier versions can be crafted by an alchemist NPC. Dragonheir's False Fin – Dropped by the Bathysmal Vishap Herd. Qingxin Flowers – Found all over Liyue. You can watch the video below from YouTuber KingSef Games. Note: Shenhe's character ascension will also increase her ATK% (up to 28.8% after ascending her past level 80). In any case, let’s talk about what you can expect when Shenhe is part of your Genshin Impact team. https://www.youtube.com/watch?vXREKnaakUJI Gameplay tips, character summary, and the Icy Quill damage buff We’ve already discussed Shenhe's weapons, artifacts, and talent priorities in Genshin Impact. Should you try to obtain her? First, think of Shenhe as a Cryo Bennett with more niche applications. As mentioned earlier, Shenhe's elemental skill/Icy Quill effect grants everyone in the team a buff to Cryo-based normal/charged/plunging attacks, elemental skills, and elemental bursts. For instance, at talent level 6, the damage gets increased based on 63.92% of Shenhe's current ATK (not base ATK). This means other effects that can continuously increase that stat will also affect the damage buff. This is also why the Calamity Queller becomes the best weapon for Shenhe due to its latent application of the ATK buff even if she's off-field. Barring this, then we can go with other options, such as the Lithic Spear or Deathmatch. The problem is the Icy Quill's trigger quota or limit. Multi-hit abilities will probably reach that limit quickly if you're fighting too many mobs. With the effect expended, Shenhe is next to useless outside of her resistance shredding debuffs. Moreover, you need to spend extra cash on Shenhe just to make her more flexible with Constellations. At C1, her elemental skill gains two charges, allowing you to (technically) increase the quota or obtain boosts when using different types of abilities (i.e., with the respective buffs from the Spirit Communion Seal talent). At C6, normal and charged attacks ignore the quota completely, but this is unbelievably expensive. Also, it goes without saying that Shenhe excels when she's with top-tier Cryo DPS characters (i.e., Ganyu and Ayaka). Unfortunately, you need to consider team compositions as well. If you're using "Morgana" or a "permafreeze" comp, then you'll always need that Cryo main DPS, a Hydro character, and an Anemo to Swirl. Shenhe doesn't really provide a lot of utility here (that would mean dropping Diona). In any case, I'll do some tests to see how viable she is. Genshin Impact is available via its official website.
