What you’ll need to fish in Harvest Island

Before you can fish in Harvest Island, you’ll need a few things. A fishing spot, bait, and the right tool for the job. For most fishing spots, you’ll simply need a Fishing Pole, but for a certain spot, the Fishing Net is required. The pole is needed for the game, and the net is less so. For now, craft the Fishing Pole.

You’ll simply need a few bits of string and a couple of long sticks. All the required materials can be found in the forest in no time. Once you’ve got the Fishing Pole, you’ll need to know what fish you want to get, and what bait they prefer.

Each type of bait has the potential to get you numerous types of fish, depending on whether it is day or night. Bait ranges from insects to small creatures. Luckily, they’re everywhere.

Finding the right fishing spot in Harvest Island

There are different types of fishing spots that can be identified through the different shadows they make in the water. Each spot has its own type of fish, and these fish have different bait requirements.

To interact with a fishing spot, go as close as you can to it from the water’s edge. Make sure you’re directly facing it. Interact with the spot, and a list of the bait and what it’ll catch is listed on the right.

When you’ve selected the bait you want to use — granted you have space in your rucksack — you may or may not catch a fish depending on the chances. If you do, then you’ll have to press the corresponding keys in a short amount of time. The minigame is easy, so don’t worry about rushing.

Fishing efficiently in Harvest Island

If you want to fish efficiently, then there are a couple of things you should do. Scoping out the amount of fishing spots you want to hit, make sure you have an adequate amount of bait for the fish or fishes that you want.

To maximize efficiency, don’t worry about packing loads of food to keep energy levels up. Instead, perform the Blessing at the Harvest Island God Statue. This blessing reduces the energy cost of all tool uses to one, meaning tool use is no longer really something to factor into your excursions.

I hope this has helped you, and hope that you’ll be bringing in buckets of fishy goodies in no time. If you want even more Harvest Island help, look no further than PC Invasion.
