All Currencies Explained in Honkai Star Rail

The sooner you come to terms with what each type of currency is for, the sooner you can know when to spend your precious resources. Our Honkai Star Rail beginner’s guide offers some tips and tricks to help you make the most of your resources during your initial few hours. Below, we’ve listed the various currencies and how they operate. In parentheses, we’ve also included the names of comparable currencies from Genshin Impact.

Credits (Mora)

This most common of currencies will come to you quite naturally as a reward for completing various activities. Use them to go shopping, and to upgrade characters and Light Cone gear.

Stellar Jade (Primogems)

When you want to purchase pulls for characters and equipment without using real-world money, this is your currency. Earn it by reaching various milestones and taking place in special events.

Oneiric Shards (Genesis Crystals)

These precious shards can be converted into Stellar Jade. You acquire them by spending real-world money. Whales take note!

Star Rail Pass (Acquaint Fate)

You can exchange 160 Stellar Jade to acquire a Star Rail Pass, which grants you a single pull on a permanent banner. Uncommonly, special events and promotions also award players with Star Rail Passes.

Star Rail Special Pass (Intertwined Fate)

These operate like a standard Star Rail Pass, except you can use them to pull from limited-time event banners.

Undying Starlight (Masterless Stardust)

When you pull on a banner and receive a 3-star or lower item as your reward, you’ll receive a small amount of Undying Starlight. You can spend it in the in-game shop for common items.

Undying Embers (Masterless Starglitter)

If you receive a 4-star or 5-star item you already own when initiating a gacha pull, you’ll receive this item as your reward. Collect enough of it and you can exchange the currency for extra characters and other goodies in the in-game shop.
