Ready or Not: How does the Optiwand Work?

An infiltration mission will not always go down as smoothly as just having an open-fire confrontation with an armed group. The small corridors, the sudden moves, and even the closed doors can give you a hard time. And by a hard time, I mean that they can even cause severe casualties.

Opening these closed doors is like walking through a minefield. Taking a couple of steps may be possible, but eventually you will encounter a bomb, especially if said door is protecting valuable information or used as a trap to make your team explode. That is where the Optiwand or the Mirrorgun enters the equation in Ready or Not.

You see, while a door can look perfectly normal after a glance, the grittiness and realism of Ready or Not, inspiring an aura of tension and danger, will have the player secure and deactivate any possible traps or countermeasures that the enemy has installed in these doors. All you need to do is equip the Optiwand / Mirrorgun and look at the bottom of the door. You will then be prompted to press the LMB button. This will grant you access to a small camera that will verify if there are any dangers on the other side of the door. These dangers could include tripwires, mines, or even enemies waiting for you to cross the door’s threshold.

Now that you know the importance of the Mirrorgun / Optiwand, it would be wise to bring it during these types of missions that will require absolute discretion and stealth on your behalf. Every time you encounter a closed door, you are just better off inspecting it first with the Optiwand in Ready or Not unless you want to blow up in smithereens.
