One of the new features Modern Warfare Zombies is bringing to the fold is Ammo Mods. There are currently five Ammo Mods in MWZ and you get them through crafting.

What are Ammo Mods in Modern Warfare Zombies?

Ammo Mods in MWZ basically add an elemental effect to your weapon’s ammo. If you have an Ammo Mod on your weapon, every time you shoot a bullet, it’ll deal extra damage via a specific element.

Currently, there are five Ammo Mods in MWZ. They are called Brain Rot, Cryo Freeze, Dead Wire, Napalm Burst, and Shatter Blast. Judging from the images and COD blog post, here is what I think the five Ammo Mods’ elements are:

  • Brain Rot – Acid
  • Cryo Freeze – Ice
  • Dead Wire – Electric
  • Napalm Burst – Fire
  • Shatter Blast – Concussive

While Brain Rot, Cryo Freeze, Dead Wire, and Napalm Burst are fairly obvious, Shatter Blast is a little more obscure because it isn’t exactly an element. I think Shatter Blast will deal concussive damage that may knock enemies back which could be very powerful.

There are two ways to get Ammo Mods in MWZ: finding them in the field and crafting them with Schematics.

Perk-a-Colas are much easier to get because you can buy them from machines in the open world and get them from completing missions. For Ammo Mods, you need to get a little bit luckier. I’ve received Ammo Mods after completing Contracts and clearing out Aether Nests. Those are the best ways I’ve found Ammo Mods in MWZ.

Schematics are harder to come by, but once you unlock a Schematic for an Ammo Mod, you can craft an Ammo Mod whenever you want from the Lobby. Schematics are much harder to find than Ammo Mods, and that’s already saying something. My coworker found a Schematic as a Contract reward, so the ways to get Schematics seem the same, they are just more rare.

I’m excited to use Ammo Mods in Modern Warfare Zombies and I can’t wait to find out which ones are the best. Which Ammo Mods are you gunning for?
