Simply open up your settings in Modern Warfare 3 and locate the audio settings on the side menu. At the very bottom of this list, you need to locate the option for functionality. Here you will find all sorts of options for the sound effects in the game, so tweak them as you see fit.

You should be able to locate one option called Hitmarker Sound Effects. With this menu, you can select the classic hitmarker audio or the new MW3 sound or just turn them off completely if you want a more realistic experience.
