Let's get you that aspect!

Are you wondering how to get Aspect of the Umbral in Diablo 4? If you’re into Crowd Control spells for your builds, the Umbral Aspect is an excellent choice as it replenishes your Primary Resource when enemies are under its effect. This guide provides two simple ways to acquire and use the aspect effectively.

How to Unlock Aspect of the Umbral in Diablo 4

You can obtain the Aspect of the Umbral by completing the Champion’s Demise dungeon in the Dry Steppes region. Once obtained, you need to imprint it by visiting The Occultist. Alternatively, you can extract the Aspect of the Umbral from a Legendary item and imprint it on another item.

How to Beat Champion’s Demise in Diablo 4

When you enter the Champion’s Demise dungeon, you must break the barrier that seals a section of the dungeon. You must find three Stone Carvings and return them to three pedestals to do this. The maps are procedurally generated so that each playthrough will differ. Once you have broken the barrier, you must defeat two Cairn Defilers, elite versions of the Moon Clan Shamans with different affixes.

Finally, after beating the two Cairn Defilers, you will face off against the dungeon boss, the Khazra Abomination. The primary mechanic of Khazra Abomination is the ability to leave pools of poison on the ground, similar to those of Herald of Pestilence in Diablo 3. All you need to do is avoid those poison pools, and you will be golden.

How to Use Aspects in Diablo 4

Once finished, the Aspect of Umbral will be unlocked in your Codex of Power. One important note: you will always get the lowest value of the range of value that the aspect offers when using it from the Codex of Power. For instance, with the Aspect of the Umbral, you will restore one resource of your Primary Resource (out of a possible max of four resources).

You can also extract Aspect of the Umbral from a legendary item you looted. To do so, you must visit The Occultist to begin the extraction process. Once you extract the aspect, you can imprint it on your chosen item. However, you can only do this once and must find another Legendary item with this aspect to do it again. You can imprint onto a Rare item, which will be upgraded to Legendary status after imprinting.

Here are some common builds that benefit from using Aspect of the Umbral:

  • Whirlwind Barbarian
  • Werewolf Druid
  • Ice and Fire Sorcerer

The Aspect of the Umbral restores [1-4] resource of your Primary Resource when you Crowd Control an enemy. This makes its use great for any class with a build that utilizes crowd control skills to help with resource regeneration.
