In Nightingale, if you want to light up your base and keep everything well-lit for the bonus — and also to see — then you’ll need a lot of Twine. It isn’t immediately apparent where one can craft this stuff, so allow me to enlighten you.
Buying a Simple Spinning Wheel in Nightingale
Upon first stumbling into the Abeyance Realm, you will scarcely have any recipes to your name to build things. Puck will quickly reprimand your ignorance but will tell you about Essence Traders. It is from them that we will purchase the recipe for a Simple Spinning Wheel.
Go to your map and look around for an Essence Trader. You should find one pretty close to where you spawn. If you chose the Forest Abeyance Realm like Puck recommended, then they should be a small ways north.
You can purchase the Simple Spinning Wheel for 55 Essence. If you’re short on Essence, then I’d recommend going around with your Sickle and harvesting a bunch of plant fibre. Along the way, pick up any Sticks and Rocks that you find. Each of these items can be Extracted for 1 Essence each, and they’re everywhere. Before you know it, you’ll be sitting on much more than enough to purchase the Simple Spinning Wheel.
You can break these items down into Essence from your inventory. Just drag an item over to the bottom right, where the large prompt will appear.
With the Simple Spinning Wheel bought, you now need to build it.

Building a Simple Spinning Wheel in Nightingale
With your Simple Spinning Wheel bought, let’s build it to get Twine production underway. The Simple Spinning Wheel is rather cheap to build, only requiring the following materials:
- 3 Wood Bundles
- 15 Fibre
- 1 Bone
Make sure to build it inside for maximum effect.
Assign — or auto-assign — the materials and it’ll materialize in front of you. The Simple Spinning Wheel only has one point of interaction to craft things. Once activated, you can begin making Twine right away.
One piece of Twine costs two Plant Fibres, which you can gain easily from almost anywhere outside. Assign the Plant Fibres and get crafting. It only takes mere seconds to complete.
Collect the Twine when it’s done spinning and you’ll have successfully made your Twine. Well done!
