Baldur’s Gate 3: How to infiltrate Baldur’s Mouth Gazette for ‘Stop The Presses’ quest

Although you can stroll right into the Baldur’s Mouth Gazette, they’ll recognize your crew and they don’t want to write anything nice about you. You have to find a sneaky way into their basement to change the next headline. How you can infiltrate and sabotage Baldur’s Mouth Gazette in Baldur’s Gate 3 is through a secret entrance on the roof.

At the back of the building, you’ll see a balcony with a door, and above that a wooden walkway. Separate the party, and only take one character who can teleport. I used Misty Step to reach the wooden walkway, then I climbed up the ladder to reach the roof. Walk along the roof towards the front end of the building, and you’ll spot a hole patched with a Barricade. You can easily break through it with a weapon or certain spells.

Once broken, hop down to the closest ledge, then hop once more onto the ground. You’re inside a tiny cage that’ll take you down into the basement. Make sure you’re hiding, since there are guards posted outside your room who’ll get angry if you try to hit the lever. Once hidden, pull the lever on the wall, and you’re in the basement!

Now, I recommend that you disable the Steel Watch Foundry before this quest. This is because Steel Watchers are patrolling the basement, and if you destroy the foundry, they won’t be a threat. Otherwise, you can attempt to sneak around them—perhaps with a potion/spell/scroll to make your invisible—to find the Printing Press.

As soon as you enter the basement, turn right and head down to the end of the hall. Make a left, walk through the open gate, and head into the room on the right. You can also enter this room by breaking a barricade in the room adjacent to it.

Look in the Wicker Basket, and take the article called ‘Make Big Money by Trading With Adventurers‘. This story speaks a lot more fondly of you. Now, leave that room, and continue down to the end of the hall until you reach another door. This room holds the Printing Press.

It’s not just any Printing Press, it actually speaks with you. Interestingly, if you released the fairy from the Moonlantern back in Act Two, the Press will be kinder to you, as she’s their friend. Otherwise, you’ll need to make a skill check with a high DC to convince it to print a different headline. If you succeed, you can now place the ‘Make Big Money by Trading With Adventurers’ story into the press.

Now, just sneak out of the basement, and after you take a Long Rest, you should see the newest headline. The public won’t think badly of you, and you can purchase one of the prints from any paper boy around the Lower City.
