How to get unstuck from Build Mode in LEGO Fortnite
When I first started LEGO Fortnite, I also got stuck in the Build Mode. Heck, I get stuck in the Build Mode sometimes even now. The way I think of it is that Build Mode is a two-layer deep system.

To pull up Build Mode, you simply need to look in the left-hand corner of the screen and press that button prompt. For controllers, it’s Circle, B, or A. For keyboard, it’s Q.
To get out of Build Mode, you simply need to press the button that got you into it. I’m using an Xbox controller, so all I need to do to leave Build Mode is press B again. However, you may still be stuck after doing that which is why you should think of Build Mode as a two-layer process.
The first layer of Build Mode is selecting which build recipe you want to create. You can tab through the sections, see what the build recipe looks like in the real world, and select it when you’re ready.
After you select your build recipe, you’re in the second layer which is the placing layer. Here, you can walk around with your selection, rotate and nudge it into the exact spot you want, and place it if you have the right materials.
To get out of Build Mode while you’re in the second layer, you need to press the Build Mode button twice, which for me is pressing B twice. The first press brings me back to layer one and the second press gets me out of Build Mode entirely. And that’s how you get out of Build Mode in LEGO Fortnite.
