Saving Hyrule in style.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a playground for all of us to play about and enjoy ourselves in. The world of Tears of the Kingdom welcomes creativity with open arms, and embraces the idea of making a cool mech to fight Bokoblins in. A personal highlight. It even embraces the ultimate form of traversal; making a very long bridge to cross any gap. The new abilities in Tears of the Kingdom really lend themselves to the player being able to create whatever they want, with Ultrahand being able to create anything from items in the environment, and Fuse being able to make any weapon from fusing two items together. You can make some incredible combinations for combat and beyond by using this mechanic, such as new traversal methods. Here’s our guide on how to make mine cart shield in Tears of the Kingdom.

The first thing you’ll need is the ability to Fuse things together. You acquire this on the Great Sky Island at the beginning of the game; it’s a requirement for completing the tutorial. The second thing you’re going to need is a shield. Again, this is very easy to come by — you can find them literally everywhere in Hyrule.

The final thing you need to complete the mine cart shield is indeed a mine cart. You can easily find these on the sky islands around Hyrule, but a dependable location is on the Great Sky Island once again. If you fast travel to the Nachoyah Shrine, another required part of the game you beat in the tutorial, as you jump down from the center of the exit ramp where the Zonai Wings are, you can see some railings to your right. Glide down to that area and you should find mine carts easily.

Once you’re there, you’re going to want to use the Fuse ability, then press ZL to fuse it with your shield. Then you’ll have yourself a mine cart shield. This shield functions essentially as a skateboard when you shield surf, which you can do by holding ZL, then the jump button, then immediately pressing the A button. This also works great for riding railings, which you can check out nearby!
