How to negate gas in The Finals

Flame on!

The Finals is a great game, love the energy, the player base, and the meta of the game. However, I don’t have enough words in me to tell you how much I HATE the gas grenades.

I get why they’re used, it’s just an annoying gadget that makes me want to throw my keyboard across the room. On the other hand, you can negate the gas in The Finals, and we’ll show you how.

The Finals: How to negate gas

After I found out how to stop this attack before it did any more damage, I began fighting differently. Hopefully, you’ll do the same with this guide. To use the gas, you can deploy either a Gas Mine or a Gas Canister which will fill a small room. Negating the effect of this gas is surprisingly easy. Any Flame-based weapon or gadget does the trick. This includes the following:

  • Flamethrower
  • Incendiary Grenades
  • Incendiary Mine
  • Flammable Canister

The flames that these items create will cause the gas to disperse, potentially hurting anyone nearby. I usually have at least one of those items above in my loadouts. For example, if you’re running a Heavy build, they may take more damage, but your health will get eaten up quickly the longer you stay in the gas cloud.

Note: Smoke grenades will not affect the gas. If you’re using the Goo Grenades or Goo Canisters, the gas will go through them. Meaning you’re only friend at that point is fire.

Why use gas?

This is an excellent question. Why would you? I know I said it’s annoying, but since the cashout spots are normally in closed spaces, the gas can help keep enemies at bay. It can also throw off enemies if you’re doing the attacking. But as mentioned, the fire acts the same way since it causes AoE damage just like the gas does.

The Finals is free to play via Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
