How to properly care for animals in Harvest Island

Be kind to nature, and it'll be kind to you!

Harvest Island, despite the ominous mystery grappling your mind, is a farming sim. You will need to look after the animals on your farm and in the wild. Doing so will give you passive benefits, and will unlock dialogue between Will and Samantha. Here is everything you need to know about looking after the animals in Harvest Island.

Animals in Harvest Island

In Harvest Island, you will start on your farm, with goats, chickens, cows, and sheep. However, there are many more animals in the game for you to greet!

As you explore new locations, you’ll bump into new buddies, mostly at the irritation and fear of Will. These animals can be interacted with, as Samantha will protest to any sort of harm being done to them. You can keep revisiting their location, and they’ll be there waiting for you to say hi!

Caring for animals in Harvest Island

When you interact with an animal, three or four options will appear. You can either pet it, talk to it, give it a treat, or sometimes you can gain some produce. During the night, you can also sing to them! You will want to be doing all of the available options for the best outcome. That is, aside from talking, as it doesn’t count toward anything.

If you hover over the ‘pet’ option, the affection menu will appear, showing you how far along you are from befriending the creature. You will want to maximize each of the stats, which goes up by 1 every time you perform that action. You will also get “bless” every time you pet, sing to, or give a treat to an animal.

Once you have maxed out one of the stats, the animal will produce more bless, and maybe more produce!

Petting and singing are simply two actions that you can speed through to add to their stats, but giving a treat actually requires a treat. Thankfully, each animal has a number of different tastes, so you shouldn’t have difficulty feeding them what they want.

Bear in mind that you can only perform these actions once per day, so make sure to check on your animals often!

Crafting Idols in Harvest Island

Every time you pet an animal, you will gain its essence. You can use this essence to craft idols at the workbench in your room. Each idol will also require one other item, most of which is grown produce.

Offering the idols to the Gods at any God statue will reward you with bless and some items! It is wise to craft many idols to get as much free stuff and bless as you can.

I hope this has cleared up any confusion about animal care in Harvest Island. Now go forth and befriend every creature you find out there! For more Harvest Island help, visit PC Invasion.
