Revelio... oh, wait. Wrong game.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom starts off right away by throwing you into Great Sky Island. This tutorial level is great, but once you go to the Surface, you’ll want to know how to reveal the map fog in Tears of the Kingdom. Here’s how to reveal the map fog in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Note: If you want to know how to get the Paraglider, we’ve got the guide for you. Hint: you can reveal the map fog and get the Paraglider in the same place.

How to unlock the map in Tears of the Kingdom

To unlock the map, or reveal the fog, you need to continue through the “Crisis at Hyrule Castle” quest. As tempting as the distractions are in Tears of the Kingdom, I recommend following the main quests until you’ve finished the “Crisis at Hyrule Castle” quest. Finding Captain Hoz can be challenging, but everything is fairly straightforward. With “Crisis at Hyrule Castle” done, you’ll reveal your first map section.

The only way to reveal map fog in Tears of the Kingdom is to use Skyview Towers. You will automatically complete your first Skyview Tower by completing the “Crisis at Hyrule Castle” quest. Also, Skyview Towers reveal Surface and Sky fog from one tile on the map.

After the first Skyview Tower is used, Skyview Towers will be available all over Hyrule. You can know where the Skyview Towers are by looking for the searchlights. Each Skyview Tower features its own mini-puzzle to solve.

Each region of the map has a Skyview Tower which means there are 15 Skyview Towers in total. Good luck finding them all! If you run into any that are especially challenging, be sure to visit PC Invasion again as we have numerous The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom guides to help you through the game. If you are still at Great Sky Island, you probably will need help getting to the Snow Mountain Shrine.
