Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: How to Slingshot Launch

As we saw from one of the first gameplay trailers for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Slingshot Launch is a new movement ability that is extremely helpful when trying to get around. It’s the fastest way to go fast in Spiderman 2, especially if you deploy web wings after the launch.

Before you get to Slingshot Launch anywhere, you need to unlock it as a skill, similar to Loop De Loop. Luckily, Slingshot Launch is the required first skill you unlock on the shared skill tree, and I recommend you unlock it early so you can get right to Slingshot Launching.

To Slingshot Launch in Spiderman 2, all you need to do is hold L2 and X. Whenever I want to Charge Jump, I end up Slingshot Launching and vice versa. However, I have a mental trick that could help you remember the controls for Slingshot Launch.

While R2 is used for sprinting and swinging, the only thing L2 is used for, besides Ceiling Hang, is aiming. If you can map in your brain that the aiming with L2 correlates to aiming a big Slingshot Launch, then you can remember the correct buttons.

I remember Charge Jump by thinking that charging up pent-up energy needs to be done with R2. For some reason, that has worked to help me remember the controls for Charge Jump and Slingshot Launch.

You’re more than welcome to come back to this article if you forget how to Slingshot Jump or you can go to the in-game moves list. Once you scroll down to the traversal section, you’ll see the required input to perform a Slingshot Launch. Something you won’t learn in the moves list is how to turn on fall damage.
