Most of the introduction puzzles are fairly straightforward, but a few take a bit more thought, especially for those not used to The Talos Principle. Here’s a quick and easy solution.

How to solve the Versatile Contraption puzzle in Talos Principle 2

You’ll find yourself in an area with a jammer and a button. There are two different blue fields blocking your way forward. At first, it may seem like there’s no way to get both unlocked at once – until you realize the jammer works from a distance.

Point the jammer in the same direction you find it in, but move it back onto the button. That way it’ll jam the second field, but the first is also deactivated. Take note of the panel the jammer was pointed toward. Anytime you see this type of panel in a puzzle, it’s telling you to point something through it.

You’ll then encounter an area with two different jammers staring at each other. An important mechanic is being taught here: Jammers can jam through purple fields, but not blue. Go to the one contained behind the purple field and pick it up. You’ll be able to target the invisible blue field the other one is jamming.

Now with the other one freed, grab it and jam the fan in order to complete the puzzle. You’ll be able to proceed to grabbing the puzzle piece and a gate will open to let you out of the puzzle.

And that’s it for Versatile Contraption. Everything it shows you about jammers will be coming in handy a lot throughout this game. Now you’re venturing onward to get out of the dreamland.
