Can you disable Gliding Rings in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?

Unfortunately, there is no way to turn off Gliding Rings in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 right now. While Insomniac Games included a ton of accessibility options in this game, one thing they forgot about is Gliding Rings. And the worst part is that, in my playthrough, Gliding Rings are always on and apparent at all times.

In my research, I found people on Reddit raise concerns about the Gliding Rings because it breaks immersion. To rebuttal that, Peter and Miles both have AR tech inside their masks, which is how the Gliding Rings exists, so they are lore-accurate and technically don’t break immersion.

That said, people still think the Gliding Rings look ugly, which is understandable. With the Gliding Rings gone, it would certainly add another layer of challenge, which would add fun similar to how you can turn on fall damage and tweak web swinging assistance. For now, there is no way to remove Gliding Rings in Spider-Man 2, but hopefully, that will change in the future.

Technically, I’m sure it isn’t too difficult to remove the Gliding Rings. In my opinion, it was probably an oversight, which hopefully means we get an update in the future that brings the capability to remove Gliding Rings if we want. I would be shocked if Insomniac Games doesn’t do that, considering their track record of being one of the most compliant developers in the industry when it comes to community feedback.

Hopefully, the wait for a “disable Gliding Rings” option isn’t too long. While we wait, you might as well check out our ranking of all Spider-Man games.
