Coming in ill-equipped for a job such as completing objectives in space might end up having you flying across space for eternity without moving forward. Thankfully, the game does provide specific Fleet combinations that will make or break your game – we all have to rely on RNG on roguelikes. But, if you are just starting up, you are completely stuck with what the game gives you. If you wish to unlock other starting Fleet combinations, then you must level up your War Games level.
Doing this is pretty straightforward: all you have to do is complete objectives. Now, similar to games such as Risk of Rain, completing these objectives isn’t the only requirement for some good old XP farming, but also completing them in time. In other words, you must optimize how you handle your fleet and complete the objectives at hand promptly. Otherwise, not only will your XP gain will take a plunge, but enemy spaceships will force your Carrier to do the same. Literally.
Once you get to a specific level milestone, you will unlock all Fleets and be able to pick them as your starting configuration in War Games. Here are all the Fleet compositions and what level they unlock at:
