How to unlock Eleanor in Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari DLC

Take this Magician’s Apprentice under your wing.

While it may be generous to describe the tangled mish-mash of pixels and retro references that make up Vampire Survivors as a narrative, there is undoubtedly a loose thread there if you’re willing to put the time in to follow it. This thread runs on into Tides of the Foscari, the game’s latest DLC pack, where we follow the plight of three classic fantasy heroes as they battle against the evil bubbling beneath the titular lake. The first of these heroes you’ll encounter is the young mage Eleanor Uziron, and knowing how to unlock her is the key to uncovering the rest of the story present in Vampire Survivors: Tides of Foscari DLC. Read on to learn how to do so.

Step 1: Head to Lake Foscari

Naturally, you’ll need to head to the Lake Foscari Stage itself before you can unlock Eleanor for use. This is a new Special stage that comes with the DLC, and it should be unlocked right away upon installing it. If this isn’t the case, try clearing the first few standard Stages first: that should get things moving, and let you dive right into the Lake from the Stage Select screen.

Step 2: Follow the map to the mysterious coffin

As with most of the Stages in Vampire Survivors, Lake Foscari has a coffin hiding in one of its far-flung corners. Opening this coffin is the key to unlocking Eleanor as a playable character. Before you can open it, though, you’ll need to find it. Thankfully, the fine folks at poncle saw fit to mark the location of the coffin on your map, so you can easily track it down using that. Bring the map up by pausing the game, and look for the ? icon. This is the coffin’s location, and you can easily make your way over to it by checking the map periodically as you move through the Stage.

Before you do, however, it’s best to do some leveling up first. As with the rest of the coffins, you’ll need to defeat a wave of powerful enemies in order to open it, not to mention endure the increasingly powerful regular enemies that start spawning in the further you move away from the start of the Stage. Level 50 is probably high enough to deal with all that. Once you’re there, head over to the coffin and you’ll find it’s surrounded by dangerous mushroom enemies, pulsing in and out like a fungal wave. Defeat them all, and sparkles will rise from the coffin, beckoning you over. Approach, and you’ll be informed via celebratory fanfare that Eleanor is now unlocked!

Step 3: Purchase Eleanor and enjoy!

From here, simply play out the rest of your run as normal, and when you’re done Eleanor will be unlocked for purchase. She’s incredibly cheap, even if you have all the other characters unlocked, so you should have no trouble affording her Gold-wise. In terms of abilities, she has no passive effects, but she does receive a lot of freebies as she levels up. These include the new weapons SpellStream and SpellStrike, which (quite literally) combine nicely with her starting SpellString weapon, as well as the Academy Seal passive item.

Now that you know how to unlock Eleanor in Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari DLC, you can dabble in the magical arts yourself, and begin unraveling the mysteries of this strange new chapter in the game’s exciting history.
