With the release of EA FC 24, many players were waiting to see if our favorite fake team would make a return to this version as well. Unfortunately, due to many licensing issues that EA faced with this game, AFC Richmond could not be included in EA FC 24. The exact reason of AFC Richmond did not get included in EA FC 24 was not revealed by the developers. It is also understandable if EA wanted to maintain the realism of their game, and thus had to leave behind the iconic fictional team.
When FIFA 23 added Ted Lasso and AFC Richmond to the game, fans of the series, including me surely were very excited to play as their favorite fictional football team. AFC Richmond was available in Career Mode, where we got the chance to lead AFC Richmond to reach glory as our favorite man Ted Lasso. The team was also available in many other modes like Kick-Off, Online Friendlies, and Online Seasons. Moreover, iconic players like Jamie Tartt, Roy Kent, Dani Rojas, and Sam Obisaniya also got their own FUT cards, which allowed us to take them against real players from around the world.

Who is Ted Lasso and AFC Richmond
Ted Lasso is a fictional coach from the famous Apple+ series Ted Lasso. The series showed us the story of a former American college football coach being appointed as the manager of a Premier League club in England, and taking the team to ultimate glory after many setbacks. Even after being ridiculed by many, coach Lasso won the hearts of the fans by showing humor and genuine care for the players rather than their results.
All the deeply emotional stories made fans around the world love the series Ted Lasso so much that FIFA 23 included everything from the series in their game. FIFA 23 also featured AFC Richmond’s iconic home ground, the Nelson Road Stadium.
