Scovillain weaknesses and best counters in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Scovillain has affinity to both Grass and Fire, and its tortured psyche prevents it from falling victim to sleep-related status ailments. Even at lower levels, it has access to some powerful moves.

At level 42, Scovillain has base stats totaling 518, which include fearsome Attack and Sp. Atk ratings. It’s not especially fast and doesn’t have good defense, however. To hit Scovillain where its weaknesses lie, use abilities with Flying, Poison, or Rock affinity.

While attacks with Flying, Poison, or Rock affinity are useful while on the offensive, trainers should make sure not to leave themselves open to reprisal if the opposing Scovillain survives the first round. To counter Scovillain, use a Pokémon with strong resistance to Fire and Grass attacks. In general, your best option is a Flying-type Pokémon with a high speed rating, such as Bombirdier. Helpfully, Bombirdier frequents some areas in which Scovillain lurks, and shouldn’t prove difficult to capture.

If you would like to add a Scovillain to your party, keep in mind it is one of the rarer Pokémon in the game. Typically, it appears only in mountainous areas. Host a picnic and have your Pokémon eat food such as the Klawf Claw Sandwich or the Ultra Curry-and-Noodle Sandwich to increase your Grass-type Pokémon encounter rate. Then head to an appropriate area. You may have the best luck finding one along the cliffside just south of the Alfornada city wall.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet can be purchased on the Nintendo Store.
