Dropping the knife and helping the Princess makes her even more chained up than before. How can you free her after the situation has become so complicated?

Slay the Princess The Prisoner full guide: Chapter one

To get the Prisoner, take the knife when you first come down, but drop it and free the Princess, then resist the Narrator trying to make you do otherwise.

This results in her killing you, leading to chapter two.

Chapter two: The Prisoner walkthrough

The cabin is now much more like a proper prison. This is the only chapter where you’re forced to take the knife. For this chapter, the outcomes are as follows:

  • Slay the Princess: Accomplished by either clicking the option or by not listening to her requests and then clicking the option when she strangles you. This leads to The Grey.
  • Question her on if she remembers last time: If you do this, this is the only route where the Narrator admits he knew about the time loop.
  • Agree to give her the knife or drop it when she strangles you: She beheads herself with it. You can either watch or close your eyes.
  • Leave her head behind: You’ll be greeted with the same void as the Spectre ending. The Voice of the Skeptic won’t allow you to take the Narrator’s gift, so you’ll end yourself, leading to The Grey.
  • Take her head with you: She’ll revive and thank you. The Shifting Mound takes her head.
  • Inspect the shackle next to her: You’ll be locked in by it, and the two of you will wait in silence. The cabin will wither away to nothing, and The Shifting Mound takes her.

Note that the Prisoner’s head and The Prisoner count as separate vessels for The Shifting Mound. You have to do this twice to deliver both.

Chapter three: The Grey

There is nothing you can do in this chapter to change the outcome. You’ll drown at the end of it no matter what, and then The Shifting Mound takes the Princess.

That’s everything from the Slay the Princess: Prisoner walkthrough. There are three vessels from this route, counting both variants of the Prisoner. However, seeing the Princess at her least changed starts to illuminate something about the true nature of the both of you.
