Spinning statues and spooky keys are just par for the course in horror games, and You Will Die Here Tonight doesn’t miss the opportunity. However, this puzzle takes a bit of time to figure out and can be rather confusing.
The correct orientation for the statues
To unlock the central masked statue, you will need to rotate the four statues surrounding it. They are, from left to right, a three-headed dog, a bird, a devil, and an angel. Each of the statues can be individually rotated in You Will Die Here Tonight. You must put them in this order.
- Dog statue – Facing right.
- Bird statue – Facing left.
- Devil statue – Facing forward.
- Angel statue – Facing left.
Once you have spun the statues to face the correct direction, take a step back, and the key will fall to the floor. You can now access a lot more of the doors on the second level of the haunted mansion. This will allow you to pick up more clues and progress further in You Will Die Here Tonight.
The solution in You Will Die Here Tonight
The solution is found by first collecting a mask for the central statue. You will find this by following the sounds of the record playing just around the corner from the statues room in You Will Die Here Tonight. Once you turn off the record, you will be attacked by a masked zombie. Blow its head off and bring the mask back to the statue room. Once you have placed the mask on the statue, you can read the hidden message.
The hidden message reads: “Three crowns of fire where the sun shall surely rise, A bird of night against it, murder in his eyes, Angels stand with demons as the world turns to dust, while all the while the devil plays the witness that he must.” Each of these clues points to the correct direction of the statues in You Will Die Here Tonight. East and west for the first two, forward and west for the second.
