If you let the Guardian visiting your dreams convince you to use the Illithid Powers, a whole new skill tree becomes available. Luckily, your new friend will let you know when they sense a parasite nearby. Although they appear during dreams, they can now speak to your during your adventures. There are multiple random places you can find parasites, and typically I find them in jars. My Guardian will say something like ‘There’s a parasite nearby, take it’. Then I go searching for the item, and pick it up.

At one point, there was one in a room where I just finished combat. I also found another parasite in the Druid Grove. It can be quite random, but you’ll know when one is nearby when your Guardian speaks up. Once it’s in your inventory, you can then click the red button on the top right of your screen. This is your Illithid Powers skill tree.

Pick up a parasite, and place it on the skill you’d like. Your character will then eat the parasite, which is gross, especially for your companions. If you speak to them after, some may encourage you to use these abilities. Others find it disgusting, and don’t agree with you at all. This is the price you’ll pay for unique powers, is it worth it? You’ll have to find out.
