Where to find Tongue of Madness and Tinmask Spores in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

Hidden mushrooms.

Tongue of Madness and Tinmask Spores are the two ingredients needed in BG3 to have Omeluum negate the parasite’s power, but where can you find them? Here’s how to complete the “Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite” sidequest by finding these ingredients.

BG3: Tongue of Madness and Tinmask Spores location

In the never-ending chase of ridding yourself of your parasite in BG3, you need to get Tongue of Madness and Tinmask Spores. In your chat with Omeluum, he mentions that the Arcane Tower should have the two mushrooms. You’ll find the Tongue of Madness and Tinmask Spores on the second floor of the Arcane Tower.

After getting past the Arcane Turrets and turning the power on using the generator, go to the second floor to find Tongue of Madness and Tinmask Spores. There are a few locations in the Arcane Tower where you can find the mushrooms you need, but I found them easily by looking around the second floor.

Tongue of Madness is found on the southeast side of the room in a little garden patch and Tinmask Spores are found in the northwest corner on a shelf. You only need one of each mushroom, but I grabbed a few just in case.

Other Tongue of Madness and Tinmask Spores locations

While the easiest way to find these two mushrooms is at the Arcane Tower, you can get them both through other means:

  • Tongue of Madness
    • Buy from Derryth Bonecloak in the Myconid Colony (only after reaching Level 6)
    • Buy from Omeluum in the Myconid Colony
  • Tinmask Spores
    • Buy from Derryth Bonecloak in the Myconid Colony (only after reaching Level 6)
    • Buy from Omeluum in the Myconid Colony
    • Dropped from certain Tinmask mushrooms throughout the Underdark

After taking Tongue of Madness and Tinmask Spores back to Omeluum and drinking his potion, it’ll inevitably fail whether you make successful Saving Throws or not. However, Omeluum offers you a priceless ring for your troubles.

I offered gold for it, but I opened the barter menu and clicked the button to change it to trade. I then dragged the ring into my inventory without having to give Omeluum anything and he was completely okay with it. You get the Ring of Mind-Shielding which gives you an advantage on Saving Throws against being charmed, which is pretty powerful.

Although this potion didn’t work, look on the bright side. You can continue to use your cool Illithid Powers to gain an advantage in combat.
