Should you choose male or female?

Just like in Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, you’ll be stuck with your chosen Rover for your entire playthrough unless you create a fresh account. Your protagonist’s gender usually doesn’t matter too much in games like this, but if you’ve played other gacha games, then you know that the male and female MCs can sometimes have different animations, voice lines, and personalities. Which Rover is the best in Wuthering Waves, then?

Does the Rover Choice Matter in Wuthering Waves?

Your choice of male or female Rover does not affect anything in Wuthering Waves. Other than their voices and models, the two characters are functionally identical. There are some very slight differences in their attack animations, though, so you may want to check out the video below showcasing their kits. The biggest differences are in their charged attacks, Resonance Skills, and Forte Circuits.

Other than minor animation differences, however, each Rover is the same. You should choose the one that looks the coolest to you. Keep in mind that they also naturally have different voices, and that’s pretty important for a protagonist.

The male Rover is voiced by Chase Brown, who previously lent his vocal talents to Lies of P and Arknights. The female Rover is voiced by Jane Jackson, who also did voice work for Arknights and some minor background voices for The Division 2. Both performances are great and you can’t go wrong either way, so it comes down to personal preference.

At the end of the day, the choice between male and female Rover is up to you. They’re functionally identical and only have visual differences between them, so you won’t be hindering your experience in any way by choosing one over the other. Just remember that there’s no way to swap between them after you’ve made your initial choice unless you decide to reroll your Wuthering Waves account.
